Victor Fernandez and Daida Moreno the single elimination winners look set to take the event titles unless freak conditions turn up a surprise.

All hope rests on some low-pressure wind tomorrow, and the chance to start the double elimination. However, confidently waiting at the podium side are the event leaders Victor Fernandez, who struck down Kauli Seadi in the single final, and Daida Moreno, who pushed-out Karin Jaggi in a ruthless tussle in the women’s contest.Some sailors have already checked the forecasts and thrown in the towel, emptying the rider’s tent and packing-up their gear. Others are more optimistic, pinning all hope on some rare south wind being strong enough to make amends for their single elimination performances.Last night many cut loose at a laid-back Beach BBQ courtesy of our hosts, the generous sponsors and local organisers.
Tonight there’s a stylish party at the Coconuts club in the nearby cosmopolitan resort of Caiscais. Although many may party until late, others will be tucked-up in bed early should they need to be on top form for the last day. Skipper’s meeting is at 11.00 tomorrow. Who knows what the elements will provide?
