 | Sylt is on. This year the forecast pulled through and enabled a full double elimination round of waves! | MP: On your boards, there are not a lot of riders that ride the production boards in the PWA contests except all the Tabou guys- tell us about your relationship with Tabou and how it is working with Fabien?
| AM: With Fabien my relationship has got better and better thanks to the good communication, he has been shaping the best boards for me. Basically Fabien shapes us boards which customers will be able to ride too. All our boards are shaped by him, we only get proto types to use, develop them, give him our impressions and after that those protos will be the future production boards, so my boards used in Sylt can be ridden by anyone who buys a Tabou board. | MP: Tell us about the twin fin vs single fin- what are the advantages/disadvantages?
| AM: Twin fins are made for small to medium high waves, if the waves are big and glassy twin fins are lovely. The disadvantage about twin fins is, less grip on the big and choppy waves. When the waves get big and fast i would prefer to take out my single fin, bigger bottom turns, more grip under the lip and of course i am more confident on the top turns. The disadvantage with the single fin is that when the waves are small, the board doesn’t turn so quick, you are most of the time far from the most critical part of the wave. | |
